A great opportunity is coming from Oklahoma Baptists Literacy Missions!
A Tutoring Children and Youth Workshop is scheduled for April 25-26 
at Gideon's Lighthouse Baptist Church in Midwest City!
 Come learn how to reach students with the Gospel 
while helping them improve their reading and other school skills! 
 
A tutoring ministry is a wonderful way for churches to reach into their communities and meet the practical need of literacy and academic help, while also sharing the love of Jesus with students, their families, and teachers! 
The 12-hour workshop is fun and interactive as we discuss material in the very helpful manual! The topics covered are: 

Tutoring Children and Youth as Missions          

Organizational Plan                                                                      

Understanding Your Student                               

Planning the Tutoring Session                            

Reading: Word Recognition and Decoding      

Reading: Comprehension                                    

Reading: Determining Reading Level

Helping with Writing

Helping with Math

Tutoring the ESL Student (basic principles)

Supplemental Teaching Approaches and Activities

Learning Differences

Sharing Your Faith

 
Dates: Friday, April 25 and 
            Saturday, April 26
Times: 5:30-9:00 p.m. on Friday and 
             8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Saturday
Location: Gideon's Lighthouse Baptist Church, 
                 9805 NE 10th St., Midwest City, OK
Registration fee: $35, which includes a manual, snacks, and lunch on Saturday
Workshop leaders: Barbara Marlett and Cheryl Wilkinson
